What You Can Change
Transpose to a Different Key
Play the song in whatever key works for you:
- Click the gear icon (song settings)
- Select your preferred key from the dropdown
- All the chords transpose automatically
- The original key shows below so you remember
Good to know: Your key choice is saved to your device. So your guitarist can view in G while your pianist sees the same song in C.
Set a Capo
If you're using a capo:
- Open song settings
- Choose your capo position (1-9)
- Chords adjust to show what you actually finger
Heads up: If you transpose AND use a capo, Song7 does the math for you and shows the right chords.
Text Size
Make it bigger or smaller:
- Use the slider or +/- buttons
- Perfect for reading across the room
- Or fitting more on a small screen
Show or Hide Chords
Sometimes you just want lyrics:
- Toggle chords on/off
- Great for vocalists who don't need chord charts
- Musicians can turn them back on anytime
Layout: Columns
Got a wide screen or want to see more at once?
- Switch from 1 column to 2 or 3 columns
- Less scrolling during performance
- Works great on tablets in landscape mode
Chord Diagrams
Need to see how to finger a chord?
- Turn on chord diagrams
- Common chord shapes appear above the song
- Handy when learning or if you forgot one
Your Settings Stick Around
Song7 remembers your settings on your device. Next time you open the song, it looks the same way.
Reset Anytime
Made too many changes? Hit the Reset button and everything goes back to the original.
Why This Matters
In a band? Everyone can customize their view:
- Guitarists set their capo
- Keyboard players transpose to their preferred key
- Vocalists hide chords for clean lyrics
- Everyone sees the same song, their way
During performance? All your settings are right there - no fumbling with paper charts or remembering what key you decided on.
Quick Tips
For guitarists: Set your capo first, then transpose if needed. Song7 handles both.
For set leaders: Remember, when you transpose a song in a set, that's just for you. Everyone else still sees their own preferred keys.
Learning a song? Turn on chord diagrams while you're getting familiar, then turn them off once you've got it.
