Synchronized Metronome Feature
What is Synchronization?
Song7's metronome can sync across all devices viewing the same song. When one person starts the metronome, everyone's metronome plays in perfect unison.
How It Works:
- Multiple team members view the same song
- One person starts the metronome
- All devices synchronize to the same beat
- Everyone hears the same click at the same time
- Perfect coordination across your entire band
Benefits of Synchronized Metronome
- Perfect Timing: Everyone stays on the exact same beat
- Individual Control: Each person can mute their own audio
- Remote Practice: Practice together even when apart
- Learning Tool: Perfect for teaching timing to new members
- No Extra Equipment: No need for a shared click track system
Using Synchronized Metronome
For Band Practice:
- All band members open the same song
- Leader starts the metronome
- Everyone's devices sync automatically
- Band plays together in perfect time
Individual Preferences:
- Each member can adjust their own volume
- Each person can mute/unmute independently
- Visual indicator works even when muted
- Tempo and time signature stay synchronized
Automatic Song Integration
Auto-Loading Tempo
When you view a song with tempo metadata:
- Metronome automatically loads that BPM
- No manual adjustment needed
- Switches automatically when you change songs
- Saves time during sets and rehearsals
Auto-Loading Time Signature
Songs with time signature metadata:
- Metronome automatically uses the correct time signature
- Beat pattern matches the song's meter
- Changes automatically between songs
Songs Without Tempo
If a song doesn't have tempo set:
- Metronome uses a default tempo (typically 120 BPM)
- You can manually adjust as needed
- Consider adding tempo to the song's metadata for future use
Best Practices
For Practice
Start Slow:
- Begin at a slower tempo than the final speed
- Focus on accuracy over speed
- Gradually increase tempo as you improve
Use Visual + Audio:
- Keep both audio click and visual pulse enabled
- Reinforces timing through multiple senses
- Helps develop internal rhythm
Practice with Mute:
- Once comfortable, try muting the metronome
- Test if you can maintain tempo without it
- Builds internal timing skills
For Band Rehearsals
Establish Tempo First:
- Start metronome before counting in
- Let everyone anchor to the beat
- Ensure synchronization before playing
Leader Controls:
- Designate one person to control tempo
- Avoid conflicting tempo changes
- Communicate any adjustments needed
Individual Volume:
- Each player adjusts their own volume
- Drummers might want it louder
- Vocalists might prefer softer or muted
For Live Performance
Soundcheck Use:
- Use during soundcheck to establish tempo
- Test synchronization with the band
- Turn off before actual performance (usually)
Rehearsal, Not Performance:
- Metronome is typically for practice, not live shows
- Develop the ability to maintain tempo without it
- Use it as a training tool
